Mr Jamie Nicholson is a Orthopaedic Trauma and Upper limb surgeon with international fellowship training in Edinburgh, Australia and the United States.
Mr Nicholson is a Consultant Surgeon at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, one of the busiest trauma units in the country with an international reputation for clinical and research excellence. He has an extensive research background in trauma and upper limb conditions with over 50 publications and multiple international awards.
Mr Nicholson has been an invited speaker at national and international conferences on upper limb trauma. He was also the previous recipient of the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh Syme Medal, the highest international accolade for research, for his PhD work on clavicle fractures where he is considered a national expert.
He has specialist expertise in shoulder and elbow pathology including fractures, sport injuries, degenerative conditions and problems after traumatic conditions.
As part of his NHS practice, he deals with both acute and delayed problems affecting the shoulder, elbow and wrist. Furthermore he deals regularly with complex major trauma and the complications of fractures which can result in infection or poor bone healing.
